I have been corresponding with a very
helpful lady that lives in Texas
named Helen Luckitt. She has been searching for all of the names of
William Jr. and Fanny's children. No luck with that yet but, she has made
me feel more confident in the westward migration of Grandpa William and
several members of his family to the Robertson County Tennessee area.
That's something that I had not felt to sure about, there were so many
William's it's hard to tell if you are on the right one.
First I will remind you that John's parents were William Ragsdale Junior
and Fanny More Hamlett, from, and married in the Caswell North Carolina
area. William Junior's brother was Peter Ragsdale. Peter also married into
the Hamlett family. Peter married Mary Hamlett in Caswell County, North
Carolina on December 9 1788. Mary and Fanny were sisters or sister-in-law's
or both. (Fanny's name is listed Fanny Moore Hamlett and makes me wonder
if she had been married once before. Helen says we will have to do some Moore
research on her).
Further investigation reveals that Rebecca Ragsdale (sister to William Jr.
and Peter) was born in North Carolina. She married Thomas Yates in North
Carolina and they had a total of 11 children. Six of those children were born
in Caswell North Carolina and the other five were born in Robertson County
Tennessee.
It is also recorded that William Sr. (grandpa), Peter, and Rebecca and many
of her children died and are buried in Robertson County Tennessee.
Thanks to Helen for all of her help.
One more interesting thing I would like to note about (grandpa) William's
family. As many do, I have researched and collected much information on many of
our ancestors from data that I have found with the help of The Church Of Jesus
Christ Of Latter Day Saints. My research indicates that the Church had no
data on this entire family until 1935 when a gentleman named Glen Huber of
California submitted William Ragsdale Sr. record of his Will to them dated
September 30 1819. That was there first account of this family and everything
else that they have on them now has been submitted a little at a time from
different family members along the way. I saw the submission form myself
presented to me by Betty Stoneman of Hot Springs Arkansas who is a member
of that Church. Thanks to Betty for her research. If I ever find a copy of the
Will I will post it for you.
